A B O U T

I’m James Stevens, an automotive artist dedicated to capturing the high-energy, fast-paced moments that define motorsport. My work brings to life the intensity of pit stops, the passion of racing teams, and the legendary drivers who make F1 the thrilling spectacle it is.
My artistic journey began in childhood, fueled by a fascination with fast cars, boats, and superheroes. Over time, I turned my passion into a professional art career, starting with pet portraits and wildlife paintings. After years of honing my skills, I found my true calling in Formula 1, a subject that not only fascinates me but is also incredibly rewarding to paint.
While my love for motorsport didn’t begin in childhood, it blossomed in my late teens. I wasn’t exposed to racing growing up, so it became a passion I discovered later in life. I’ve always believed that you should never paint something you don’t truly love or feel connected to. For me, every piece I create is an emotional connection, deeply rooted in the history and excitement of Formula 1.
I primarily work with high-quality acrylics, which allow me to capture the vibrant colors and fine details that motorsport demands. My paintings are created with premium linen canvases or museum-grade wooden boards, both of which provide a smooth surface for a great finish.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and talking with many of the Formula 1 pit crews featured in my work. Hearing their stories and the history behind each moment is always a highlight, adding extra depth to the emotion of my paintings.
I’ve also had incredible opportunities to give back. One that stands out is working with Race Against Dementia, where we donated a Sir Jackie Stewart-signed canvas print for auction in Singapore. It’s truly special to use my art to support such a worthy cause, and I look forward to doing so more in the future.
I also love live painting for a crowd. A particularly memorable experience was at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where I shared a gallery stand with the High Revs Studio Gallery and live-painted Lewis Hamilton following his stunning Silverstone win. The energy at such events is always contagious. If you happen to see me at one, make sure to come and say hello.
I hope this gives you a glimpse into my work and my journey. Please take a moment to explore my collection of Formula 1 artwork, and if you’d like to commission a piece or inquire about a specific painting, don’t hesitate to get in touch, I’d love to bring your vision to life.
