From the outset, my vision for this piece was to bring a sense of dynamic, abstract movement. After exploring several concepts, I settled on a flowing wave of red and white that opens up to let the sail cut dramatically through the canvas.
Speed was key to the motion, so I used the movement of the water and brushstrokes to convey the vessel’s power and speed.
For the boat itself, it was all about precision, from the droplets of sea spray to the intricate details of the vessel, each element brought the scene to life.
I had an absolute blast creating this piece, both in the studio and live at the UK SailGP.
